Hi Alex--

I hope this is not too forward, but my book _Managing Student
Assistants: A How-To-Do-It Manual for Librarians_ came out earlier
this month. I'm a little biased to determine if it is commendable (as
you ask), but I just learned today that Library Journal calls
it "Highly Recommended." You can check out the TOC at
http://www.neal-schuman.com/db/5/555.html .

If your library doesn't purchase it, you can always get an ILL from
Bobst.

Lastly, this is a topic that I've done a lot of research on, so if you
have any questions or challenges, I'd be happy to discuss with you.

Dear colleagues,

As a new supervisor, I wonder whether there are any commendable resources
available on how to manage students -- hiring, training, scheduling,
maintaining discipline, &c. Any advice would be appreciated.
