Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Head of the Science and Technology Libraries at Princeton University, this challenging position has four distinct areas of responsibility: 
(1) Assists the Head with administration of the eight science branch libraries, which have a combined staff of 31 professional and support staff and close to 100 student assistants. Coordinates projects, arranges and provides support for monthly meetings, facilitates communication and cooperation, and assists the science libraries to meet group goals and objectives efficiently through communication and sharing of knowledge, information and ideas. 
(2) Provides critical administrative support for the Lewis Science Library's Strategic Planning Team. The team consists of the science librarians, and the support staff of the six branch libraries that will merge to form the new Lewis Science Library due to open in fall 2008. Researches information, compiles data, and produces reports. Arranges meetings, prepares agendas, organizes and communicates information, and records and distributes minutes of the planning meetings. 
(3) Seeks and verifies information and prepares reports related to Princeton's electronic resources for NERL (buying consortium of research libraries), DiRAG (the Library's Digital Resources Advisory Group) and special assignments. Verifies holdings, contacts publishers, creates spreadsheets, monitors usage, and tracks costs. This position also provides preliminary analyses of publishers' and vendors' e-resources proposals. 
(4) May be called upon to supervise the support and student staff in a library unit. If so, would manage the day-to-day work and operation of the library, coordinates production work and projects, and maintains public services. Encourages a team-based work environment, sets priorities, provides appropriate training, creates action plans and assists staff to set goals and to achieve them. 

Requirements:
Very strong and successful management, organizational and supervisory experience. Excellent oral and written communication and a high degree of interpersonal skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong public service orientation and commitment to the importance of quality services to users. Must be able to prioritize, take initiative, exercise sound judgment and make decisions. Must be detail-oriented, accurate, and efficient. Able to work under pressure and to work effectively on multiple tasks within tight time frames. Able to act independently, creatively and responsibly. Able to coordinate and to lead a collaborative staff environment. Understand and maintain confidentiality. BA degree or higher, or equivalent experience. Work experience within an academic research library environment. Excellent desktop skills with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. Working knowledge of Princeton's Integrated Library System (currently Voyager) for acquisitions, cataloging, circulation, and reserves. Working knowledge of Princeton's ILL and Document Delivery System (currently ILLiad). Web site design/editing experience; familiarity with HTML and/or web editors e.g. Dreamweaver

Compensation and Benefits: Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience and accomplishments. Twenty-four (24) vacation days a year, plus eleven (11) paid holidays. Annuity program (TIAA/CREF), group life insurance, health coverage insurance, disability insurance, and other benefits are available.

Rank: This is an Administrative position, grade ADM 020, 100% duty time, work schedule Monday - Friday, 8:45 am - 5:00 pm
