Sadly, Nancy Kress is leaving Chicago for a librarian position at the
University of Nevada at Las Vegas' Library. Nancy has done amazing
work applying the principles of lean manufacturing to the book stacks at
Regenstein Library, which houses a collection of 4.5 million print
volumes in open stacks. She has also assembled a first rate staff.
We're looking to hire another innovative and service-oriented manager to
continue Nancy's first-rate work. In addition to leading and managing
the work of the book stacks, this individual will also be involved in
the planning underway for the Regenstein Library Addition, which will
add collection storage space for 3.2 million print volume equivalents in
an automated storage and retrieval shelving facility. The Head of the
Book Stacks will also be involved in the logistics and workflow planning
for moving books targeted for the Google Book Project.

If you have questions about the position, I would welcome them.
