CiRCA Team Leader
University of Connecticut Libraries
The University of Connecticut Libraries seeks applicants for the
position of CiRCA Team Leader/University Librarian II (UCP 7). The
CiRCA Team Leader reports to the Director of Access Services. The
incumbent is responsible for leading and supervising the CiRCA Team
(composed of Circulation, the information desk (iDesk), Reserves, and
Collections Access) in the development, coordination, and delivery of
services that facilitate user access to information resources via
traditional library systems and Web-based applications. The Team Leader
coordinates scheduling and training of staff at the Library's iDesk and
covers this desk 5-7 hours a week, assisting customers with circulation
and reserve transactions and providing a range of information services.
The incumbent is a member of the University Libraries' Access Services
Development Team and may serve as a member of the Library Liaison
Program. Evening and/or weekend hours will be required, up to 2 days
per week. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: A graduate degree in Library or Information
Science from a program accredited by the American Library Association;
minimum of three years supervisory experience; excellent organizational
skills; demonstrated knowledge of U.S. Copyright Law and how it relates
to library functions and users; ability to work effectively with library
users; excellent communication skills; familiarity with the Microsoft
Office suite of products or a similar software application; evidence of
participation in professional development activities.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated Web authoring and editing
skills; demonstrated ability to query databases, perform statistical
analysis and use results to effect change in operations; experience with
the Endeavor Voyager Integrated Library System; experience with course
management software, preferably Vista; previous experience in an
academic library; previous experience in either Circulation or Reserves;
demonstrated ability to facilitate change; previous experience in a
library consortia environment; demonstrated ability to work successfully
in a team-based environment; previous training in team leadership.

Compensation: The anticipated hiring salary for this position is
$56,000-$61,000. University benefits include 22 paid vacation
days/year, 12 paid State holidays, health and retirement plans, and
tuition reimbursement.
