What happens when two Academic librarians team up with a Public librarian to
create an innovative web-based training program? Everyone learns something
new, including you!
Join us at ALA Annual to hear about the amazing adventure of Emily Rogers,
Renee Ettinger, and Clare Kindt as they collaborated to take Clare’s
training online. Emily and Renee have over a decade of experience with
providing online training, so they know how to do it effectively and avoid
pitfalls they’ve discovered in the past. Even so, the differing public
library environment presented technology and policy issues they didn’t
expect. Attend our program at ALA to learn from their journey, and take your
training online!
*Less Train, More Gain : Using Technology to Train, Maintain, and Retain
Part-time and Student Employees *
*A Program Offered at the ALA Annual Conference by the LLAMA / SASS
Circulation and Access Services Committee*
*DC 2010, Saturday June 26th, 8am-10am, WCC 145-A*
Spending too much time training new staff? Take your training online!
Learn how to incorporate web-based technology, interactive courseware, and
other tools to keep training consistent and manageable for employee
categories where there is often high turnover. See how utilizing an online
training program, peer-to-peer and group training, and well-defined
standards and benchmarks increases training efficiency for everyone
involved. Discover how a tiered system of responsibility can be used as a
motivational tool to increase retention. See real examples from both an
academic and public library.
