Dear Colleagues,
Does your library ship items to users studying or researching abroad? At NYU
we offer delivery services to our Abu Dhabi campus library, where library
staff mediate circulating and returning items to New York. To our other
global users we provide chapter and article scans, and are looking into the
feasibility of sending entire items to users in locations without library
support.
If you do offer this service:
- Do you promote the service or are items sent by special request?
- What types of users will you send to (all, faculty, grads, etc.)?
- How do users return these items? For example, do you include a postage
paid envelope or are they on their own?
- What, if any, challenges have you faced in providing this service?
Thank you in advance for sharing your experiences.
