[CPSLibraries] December Second Life Orientation - Mon, 12-3 @ 8pm

Dear Librarians:

 

Have you wanted to get involved in Second Life, the virtual reality
environment with many resources for librarians and teachers?  You are
invited to attend the December Orientation meeting on Monday, December 3
from 8pm - 9pm.  We will review basic SL skills, including movement,
communication, and appearance.  You will be joined by members from the
American Association of School Librarians and the ISTE Media Specialists
Special Interest Group (SIGMS).  To participate, please do the
following: 

 

1.	Prior to Monday, go to www.secondlife.com
<http://www.secondlife.com/> .  Click the orange button to create a free
avatar account.  
2.	Download the client viewer software from the link at the bottom
left of the home page.
3.	Open the viewer, enter your avatar name and password, and watch
yourself "be born" into Second Life (SL)
4.	Spend a little time participating in orientation activities and
familiarizing yourself with the area.
5.	On Monday evening, log onto SL at about 7:45 pm.  Search for
Elaine Tulip and instant message me to be teleported to our orientation
location.

 

Also, save the date for our December Virtual LLC meeting, which will be
on Monday, December 10th at 8pm.  We will discuss the new AASL standard
#2.
