Greetings!

You recently registered for the 1st Annual ISLMA Virtual Conference.
Thank you and Welcome! We hope you will enjoy this experience enough
that you will want to actually come to the conference in person next
year! All sessions this year are being offered to you through the
generous donation of the Rolling Prairie Library System's OPAL
Auditorium and through the gracious services of Tom Peters, OPAL
Coordinator at TAP Information Services.

In order to participate in the session(s) you registered for, please
follow the following directions carefully.

You must be using a PC, not a Macintosh computer. Use a computer with
speakers in order to hear the presentation.

Note: This program installs a small applet on the computer. If your
computer requires an administrative password to install software,
prepare your computer well in advance.

1. Determine the exact time your session begins on Friday, Nov 2:

a. Session 1 - 9:00 to 10:00 am, "Wonder Woman: a Visual History
of a Feminist Icon"

b. Session 2 - 10:15 to 11:15 am, "Exciting New Books for Grades
5-8"

c. Session 3 - 1:15 to 2:15 pm, "Virtual Book Club"

d. Session 4 - 2:30 to 3:30 pm, "Connecting Digital Natives with
the School Library"

2. About ten minutes BEFORE your session begins:

a. Point your browser to
http://www.conference321.com/masteradmin/room.asp?id=rs1641902f62b4.

b. Download "Talkcom" software, and install it on the computer you
will be using. Once the software is installed, you will see a
confirmation message.

c. Click on the orangish button "Click here to enter this room".
Another box will appear for you to use to login.

d. In the user name box, type your First Name and Last Initial
(i.e. Jane S)

e. Leave the Password box empty. You will not need a password.

f. Click the button for "Log On".

g. You will not be using the microphone features of this program,
but you should make sure the SPEAKER BUTTON is on and that the sound bar
is to the right. Using a set of headphones with your computer will be
very helpful at this point in time. Without headphones or speakers you
will not be able to hear the presenter at the conference.

h. If you cannot hear anything, go to the top toolbar and click on
FILE\SPEAKER SETTINGS. Make sure your sound is ON, not muted and that
the volume slides are pushed up.

3. Approximately five minutes before the session begins, the
Session Moderator will login. She will have her microphone and speakers
working and will test the sound to make sure you can hear. (See 2f
above for help if no sound is working.)

4. To communicate with the Moderator, you can use the text box on
the left side of the screen, right in the middle. Simply type in what
you want to say and then hit ENTER. Your words will transmit directly
to the Moderator who can then respond to you.

5. Your Moderator will let you know when the Session Presenter is
beginning.

6. Should the Presenter be showing a power point or have a
handout, you will be able to view it in the large browser window to your
right. (Make sure your window is open to "full screen". We will make
sure you have access to the documents following the session so you can
print them out if you desire.

As people login to the session you will see their names listed on the
lower left side of the Public Chat bar.

Once the session is over - and you are not attending the next session,
you can close your browser window.

There will be a break (11:30 am to 1:30 pm) between the first two
sessions and the last two sessions so that you too will have time for
lunch!

Thank you so much for participating in this exciting new opportunity for
sharing our professional expertise and networking.

We will appreciate you completing a survey following this online
adventure! Your survey is attached to these directions. (You can
download it, fill it in, resave it, then e-mail it back to me as an
attachment, OR you can snail mail it to me at the address below.

If you need CPDU credit for this session, please contact me separately
to make those arrangements.

Again, Thank You. Hope you enjoy your conference. Know that you will
be fulfilling our conference theme, "Making Powerful Learners Virtually
Everywhere"!
