Dear Librarians:

 

The Illinois School Library Media Association (ISLMA) is our statewide
professional organization supporting school librarians.  Their fall
conference is an excellent way to network with other librarians and to
get updated professional information.  This year, the host hotel is the
Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza in Springfield, Illinois.

 

The CPS Department of Libraries encourages CPS librarians to attend this
conference.  We will provide free bus transportation leaving after
school on Thursday, Nov. 1st from the Medill Training Center and
returning Saturday, Nov. 3rd.   [Overnight security will be posted in
the Medill parking lot.] Note that Friday, November 2nd is a student
non-attendance day.

 

Steps to Attend

 

1.            Register for the conference at the ISLMA website at
http://www.islma.org/conferences.htm.  IMPORTANT:  The early bird rate
will expire on September 29!

 

2.            Make hotel reservations and mention that you are with the
ISLMA Conference.  CPS has reserved a block of hotel rooms at the
Holiday Inn Express (next door to the event) through September 28th.
These are non-smoking double rooms at $90/night.  You may want to make
arrangements with a colleague in order to share room costs.  The hotel
address is 3040 S. Dirksen Pkwy in Springfield.  The reservation phone
number is 217-529-7771.  This hotel is next door to the Crowne Plaza and
within walking distance.  In addition, there may be a limited number of
rooms available at a higher rate at the Crowne Plaza.  The hotel address
is 3000 Dirksen Pkwy.  Call 800-589-2769 to make reservations at this
hotel.  Registration and hotel fees are the responsibility of each
attendee.  

 

3.            Watch for more information from the Department of
Libraries about reserving a spot on the conference bus.
