Dear Nora,
I think the one you want is "Wanted: Have You seen this Alligator" by Richard Waring
The other one might be The Emperor's Kite by Jane Yolen or Shibumi and the Kitemaker
Good luck! I know how it is when you can't remember the name of that perfect book!
Sincerely,
Dorsey

Subject: [CPSLibraries] a few books I can't find...
Hello,
I have a few books I want to order and I can't remember a title or author :) ha ha. I've tried to search by topic and things but now I need your help!
The first one is about a dancing crocodile or alligator who lives with people (this is a fiction picture book!) and accidentally goes down her family's toilet. She comes up a few toilets in other houses and scares people, and soon the whole city is calling the police. There's a chase through the sewers.... I think she tangos or salsas or something on the cover.
The other book is a folk tale about a princess who wants to leave the castle grounds but her father doesn't let her. She finally builds a big kite and it carries her over the wall into the surrounding city. Later her father sees her flying by and pulls her in, I think, but I can't really remember the rest of the story. But I remember this being a beautiful folk tale- probably geared to 3rd to 5th grade.
Thank you-- it's mostly just annoying me now so I hope my descriptions jog your memory!
