The Pass/Fail and "no grade" options have officially been activated for
library grades for all schools. Please read the Q&A below for more
information.
I understand that Pass / Fail and "no grade" options are available for
elementary library grades. How does a school activate the Pass / Fail or
"no grade" option for the library grade. The scale has already been
configured to accommodate A, B, C, D, F, /, and P, with "/" representing
no grade, and "P" representing "Pass." Schools do not have to make any
request or arrangement to have the option activated. These options are
only available for the Library grade, and once a school adopts the Pass
/ Fail or "no grade" option for a quarter, it must use it for the
remainder of the school year due to the way the final cumulative grade
is calculated. The school principal has the final say over whether the
"Pass/Fail" or "no grade" option is implemented for library grades in a
school.
How is the Pass / Fail grade calculated? Assignment grades can be any
combination of letter grades, percentages or Pass / Fail entries.
Gradebook will automatically calculate a final letter grade, which the
librarian can override with a "P" for any A - D grade. Fail will
continue to be represented by an F. Any number of assignment grades can
be used to calculate the quarter grade.
