Fran,
You can capture and import marc records from WorldCat if you have an
OCLC account. I had one while I was at Orozco, and I used it extensively
to catalog books in Spanish. It's wonderful. I don't have the exact
information about joining, but I would suggest calling the Illinois
State Library at 217-785-5600 or even OCLC at 800-848-5878. I'm sure you
could also e-mail. I think I paid $60/year, but the price may have
increased. Hope this helps.

Subject: [CPSLibraries] Cataloging
Colleagues,
Does anybody know how to capture and import marc records from WorldCat
or any other source? I use SmartMarc and Alexandria with much success,
but I have lots of Spanish titles that can be found in WorldCat but not
in U.S. libraries accessible via SmartMarc.
Do I have to become affiliated with WorldCat? Are there any options
available using SmartMarc that I am overlooking?
Any suggestions or referrals to librarians who know more about this from
a technical or an organizational standpoint would be very welcome.
Thanks!
